Our Mission

At The Whole Child Montessori School we aim to provide a safe and caring environment for our children, parents and staff. Our families are provided support through education and information in their quest and partnership with us in the healthy development of their child.

Our Philosophy and Goals

The Whole Child Montessori School our children are encouraged to develop in all areas of their being. We provide for their social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth, with aim being to develop a life long love of learning. We offer your child the opportunity to be and feel secure, safe, and happy in a loving, homelike environment.

The goals of The Whole Child Montessori School are:

• To appreciate the importance and uniqueness of each child.
• To foster each child's confidence and self esteem.
• To offer the best in learning experiences and creative opportunities.
• To foster a learning environment where children love to learn.

Our Staff

The teachers are the most important part of our school. We believe that employing highly educated and qualified staff, who provide close personal attention to each child, is essential to providing a quality experience for all our children; therefore, we keep our ratios low and provide a supportive environment for our teachers to develop in their careers as well as providing them with competitive salaries and excellent benefits.

• Our staff are Montessori trained as well as  having other teaching credentials.

Teachers and Director attend regular training courses and our annual AMS (American Montessori Society) Montessori conference, to refresh and energize our staff, build team spirit, acquire new skills and ideas to try in our classrooms.  Attending these conferences helps us as a school to keep abreast with the latest in Child development and to continually improve and develop the programs we offer and the school as a whole. It is through these organizations that the staff attends workshops and classes to keep current with the ever changing needs of today's families and new ideas for working with young children.

During 2009-2010 School Year we are going to be beginning the process of having the school accredited by the AMS School Accreditation.  We are looking for parents of current students who wish to help us on this journey by offering their skills and services on different committees and boards we will need to form to complete the year long accreditation process.  Please contact the office to see where you can be of service.  There will be a Information Meeting about AMS Accreditation and what it means for our school in mid August 2009.

Our Programs Include

  • Toddler (non-potty trained 2-3yr olds)
  • Pre-school (3-6yr olds)
  • Kindergarten
  • Elementary - (K-3rd Grade)
  • Summer School
  • Extra Curricula Activities

We follow the full Montessori curriculum and our classes are grouped in the traditional multi-age grouping of 2-6 year olds and 6-9 year olds.

School Pictures

Whilst public schools budgets are being cut and programs like music are being excluded from the program we at WCMS feel it is even more vital to offer these programs to our students so part of our Elementary Curriculum the school includes a creative arts curriculum of: Music (Music theory/Music Appreciation/Musical Instruments); Art (Guided Art Lessons/Theory of Art & Artists; Dramatic Arts (Dance, Drama, Music & Movement) and Physical Education (Ball Skills, Group Games, Physical Fitness, Yoga) and Gardening.

“The objects in our system are instead a help to the child himself, he chooses what he wants for his own use, and works with it according to his own needs, tendencies and special interests. In this way, the objects become a means of growth.”
